Dr Chen is a New Zealand trained and vocationally registered Dermatologist, and a Fellowship trained Mohs Micrographic Surgeon. She furthered her Dermatology training at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, and subspecialised in Skin Cancer Reconstructive Surgery in Perth.
DR PEGGY CHEN
MBChB, FRACP (Derm), ACMS, FNZDSi, ACD (Mohs)
Dr Chen is a vocationally registered Specialist Dermatologist, and an American Mohs College certified Mohs Micrographic Surgeon. She was raised in Christchurch and earned her medical degree from the University of Otago.
Peggy completed her basic training in Dermatology in Waikato and Auckland region. She then furthered her training in London, UK working at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Here she gained experiences in novel treatments for psoriasis and eczema, and worked with world renowned dermatologists in the field of genital dermatology.
Subsequently, she sub-specialised in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and undertook her fellowship training in American Mohs College accredited training facility in Perth, Australia. During her time in London and Perth, she was involved in training of GPs and medical students, writing book chapters, and presented at national meetings and international conferences.
On top of her clinical work, Peggy is an associate editor of the Australasian Journal of Dermatology, a member of the Ministry of Health Melanoma Standards Working Group, and a member of the New Zealand Advanced Dermatology Training Committee.
DR JENNIFER HUGHES
MBBS, FRNZCGP, PGDip Cosmetic Medicine
Originally from Wales, Dr Hughes completed her medical degree in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom. Dr Hughes moved to Taranaki, New Zealand, in 2010 working initially at Taranaki Base Hospital, and completing her general practice fellowship in Waikato. She has been working as a vocationally registered GP Fellow locally.
Having been a General Practitioner in New Zealand for over 10 years, Dr Hughes expanded her knowledge and practice to incorporate aesthetic medicine. She completed her postgraduate diploma in cosmetic and aesthetic medicine with the University of South Wales (United Kingdom), and will soon gain her fellowship with the Australasian College of Aesthetic Medicine.
Dr Hughes philosophy is to offer aesthetic recommendations and procedures to improve wellbeing for patients’ own aesthetic goals.
In her non-clinical time, Dr Hughes enjoys time at the beach, yoga, lifestyle block management, and time with family and friends.
SIMONNE MURPHY-BISHOP
Dermatology Nurse Lead
Simonne is an experienced nurse with a passion in skin health. She has a gentle and professional approach to patients.
Simonne has been working alongside Dr Chen in raising awareness and educating people about sun protection and skin cancers.
She brings expertise in post op care, and scar management to the practice.

JULIANNE WATSON
Practice Nurse
Julianne graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree in 1997. She has a background in surgical nursing, clinical management and in 2012 expanded her scope to train in appearance medicine.
The last six years she has worked in the field of skin cancer nursing and has worked closely alongside Dr Chen for several years in Mohs surgery.
Julianne is warm, and has a calm and professional manner. She enjoys getting to know her patients and supporting them through their skin health journey.
TRACY DRINNAN
Medical Receptionist
Tracy is a highly experience medical receptionist, having worked in a range of specialist practices and hospital environments in New Plymouth.
Originally from Christchurch, Tracy enjoys the Taranaki lifestyle – but despite the years spent in the northern climates, she still remains a Crusaders supporter.
Tracy enjoys silver jewellery making, glass mosaics, baking and spare time with her puppy.
